What are live events?

Live events are events that take place in real-time and are typically streamed live to users. Examples: Concerts, sports telecasts, award ceremonies, etc.

How to schedule live events?

  • From the Content Section of the left menu select Livestream and then select Upload Livestream/Live Event.

  • Select Live Event under Live stream type.

  • Enter your HLS Event URL.

  • Upload the poster and fill in other event details like start time

Best practices to create a seamless live stream experience for viewers

1. Planning

Thorough planning is the foundation of a successful livestream. Define your objectives, prepare your content, and ensure all technical aspects are in place beforehand. Planning ahead minimizes potential hiccups and sets the stage for a smooth streaming experience.

✅ Ensure your HLS is streaming content at least 5 minutes before the scheduled time

✅Ensure you have scheduled it for the right time on the platform

2. Technical Setup

Pay attention to technical details such as audio and video quality, lighting, and internet connectivity. Test your equipment and adjust settings to ensure optimal performance. A well-optimized setup enhances the viewing experience and reduces technical disruptions.

💡 Steam and check a sample event to optimize performance before your actual event.

3. Engagement

Engaging viewers during a live stream is essential for creating an interactive and memorable experience. Respond to comments and questions in real time, incorporate polls or Q&A sessions, and encourage audience participation. This fosters a sense of community and keeps viewers actively involved throughout the stream.

4. Optimize

Consider factors such as timing, duration, and promotion to maximize the reach and impact of your live stream. Additionally, monitor analytics and gather feedback to assess the success of each stream and identify areas for improvement. Continuously refining your approach based on insights ensures that each live stream offers an increasingly seamless and engaging experience for viewers.

Showcasing on Website and Apps on Home Page/Other Pages

  • Make sure you approve the show and playlist to appear in respective endpoints in the Content tab.

  • If your live videos are all in the same show, showcase them using a show, else group them in a playlist

  • Create a horizontal listing and display the videos (live videos) in the show/playlist explained in the previous step

Note: If there are no active videos, the widget will not be displayed.

By default, the live events will be available on the Events page. Make sure you have approved the mapped show in the Content Tab

How to make an event inactive once it ends

  • Once an event is created, it will be available in the video library under the Live Video tab.

  • Here, you will see the Manage Video option to the right of your video. Click on it and modify details.

  • Once your event has ended, click on the Modify video option, scroll down to the status field, and mark it as inactive. This is will prevent showcasing inactive events on your website and apps
If the video is not made Inactive, it will disappear 24 hours from its created time

FAQ

What will happen if my HLS stream is not working on the scheduled time?

Your users will see a blank screen, so make sure you set things up well in advance.

Can I gate my live events only to registered users?

Yes. Here is how you can gate by changing the video subscription of the event on the platform
