This guide outlines how to integrate external navigation within TV (CTV), mobile, and web apps using QR codes and direct URLs.

This supports a wide range of use cases — including donations, promotions, surveys, and more.

Why Use External Navigation?

Some platforms — especially Smart TV apps do not support traditional web navigation. To provide a seamless user experience and enable actions outside the app, two approaches are supported:

  • CTV Apps: Display a QR code that users scan with a mobile device to open a browser and complete an action.

  • Mobile/Web Apps: Provide a clickable menu item or banner that opens the desired URL directly in the user’s browser.

This allows you to drive conversions while maintaining platform compatibility and robust user tracking.

Two Navigation Options

You can enable navigation using either of the following options:

1. Menu Item

A clickable option in the app’s main navigation (such as header/footer).

  • On CTV: opens a QR code screen.

  • On Mobile/Web: opens the external link directly in the browser.

2. Banner

A visual image banner promoting the action (e.g., campaign, donation, event ticket promotion, ecommerce website).

  • On CTV: clicking shows the QR code.

  • On Mobile/Web: clicking opens the external URL.

📌Here is how to create a banner to promote the campaign

How to upload the QR code?

  • From the Monetization section of the left menu, select Manage Ad Banner.

  • Click on the Create button

  • Select Type as Donation Banner

  • Fill in a Name for your banner

  • Upload the banner images in the required ratios

⚠️ Note: Make sure you upload a 1:1 image as it is the standard for QR codes across devices

  • Once all fields are filled and images are uploaded, click on the Submit button

How to Create a Page with a QR Code

To enable users on CTV (Connected TV) apps to scan a QR code and navigate to an external page (e.g., for donations, registrations, or campaigns), you can create a dedicated page using the Info Widget.

  1. Create a New Page

    • Navigate to the app where you manage app pages.

    • Click on Create New Page.

  2. Add a Widget

    • After the page is created, click Add Widget.

    • From the widget list, select Info Widget.

  3. Configure the Info Widget

    • In the Thumbnail dropdown menu, select the QR Banner you previously uploaded.

      • This is the 1:1 image containing your QR code.

    • Add a Section Title:

      • Max 70 characters.

      • This is the title text that appears next to the QR code (e.g., "Scan to give").

    • Add a Description:

      • Max 650 characters.

      • Use this to explain what the QR code does (e.g., "Scan this QR code to complete your donation from your mobile device").

  4. Save the Page

    • Once your widget is configured, click Save to publish the page.

You can now link to this page via a menu item or banner.

This is how the page will look on TV apps
