What is a menu?

A menu contains links to shows, videos, and other content so that your visitors can easily navigate around your site.

Eye-tracking research shows that people scan web pages in an F pattern.

A good balance between the top navigation menu and the left navigation menu could make it easier for your users to scan through your content.

Left navigation facilitates vertical scanning, which improves speed and allows users to see numerous links at once.

At the same time, you can use the top navigation (header) to give minimal guidance when the side menu is collapsed

How to setup Top (Header) navigation in the website

  • From the Endpoints section of the left menu, select Responsive Website and then select Website

  • Head to the Header tab.

  • In the General section, select a layout for your header.

  • You can also customize your search box here.

  • Moving to the Advanced section, you can enable/disable default items like Plans and Watch-list.

  • You can also make your header menu transparent. Meaning the header menu will have no background color and will be seen in the same color as the web page below it.

  • Finally, moving to the Menu Section, you can type in the menu title and link it with the respective page.

πŸ’‘ You can also map to any URL (even external) by pasting the URL

  • To edit an existing menu item, click on the edit button to the right of the item (under the Menu Links section), you will notice that the item details will be shown in the Add/Edit Item section. Now edit the title or map page and click on the Update button

  • Hit the Save button once you have added or edited all the menu items

  • You can also change the menu order by dragging and dropping them, or move them as sub-menu items by changing their indentation

How to setup Top (Header) navigation in CTV apps

  • From the Endpoints section of the left menu, select Connected TV Apps and then select the required app

  • Head to the Header tab.

  • In the General section, select a layout for your header.

  • Then toggle ON the elements you want to include in your header

  • To add custom items, expand the menu section and add the page

  • Drag and Drop to reorder menu items

⚠️ Note: You can add only up to 6 items in your CTV headers. We have made this to avoid clutter. Also, we recommend you to name your menu items within 10 characters.

πŸ’‘ Pro tip: To give your users more navigation options, create a page 'Browse'

Add this page to your header, within this page use a horizontal or grid listing to

showcase playlists and shows that you would have added to your header.
