What is an EPG Feed?
An Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) feed is a structured data source that delivers scheduling information for your FAST channels. It contains the program titles, descriptions, start and end time, by displaying real-time scheduling details for current and upcoming programs across your website and apps, enhancing user experience and engagement.
How the EPG will look like on the website and apps?
Attached below is the sample screenshot of our demo website for showcasing how the EPG will look on your website.
Steps for adding EPG data for your Fast channel:
Below are the steps for adding and updating the EPG on the Ventuno Platform.
Adding EPG through XML link:
1. Adding the EPG feed you already have (XML-TV EPG).
2. Under EPG section Select > Manage EPG > Create EPG (feed).
Is there a sample feed available for reference?
Under the create EPG(feed) section, you can find the Sample EPG feed as shown in the screenshot below.
You can also find the Sample EPG link here.
3. This will take you to a Manage channel EPG page.
4. Select the channel and enter the EPG URL.
5. Please note that you need to update the EPG feed to till date and also for the future dates before adding it to the platform.
6. Once the EPG link is uploaded, You need to Select Submit and the EPG for the selected channel will be updated within a few minutes.
How Can I Update the EPG feed on the Ventuno Platform:
Once the EPG programs you have uploaded are completed, you need to re-upload the EPG with the latest program details.
1. Under EPG section Select > Manage EPG(Live Stream) > Manage EPG (feed) > Edit.
2. This will take you to a Manage channel EPG page.
3. If you have any channels with EPG data updated to the same EPG feed, then you just need to refresh the EPG data using the refresh button.
4. Once the EPG is refreshed, it will read the latest EPG data if any available and the same will be updated across the website and apps.
5. If you need to update the EPG URL of the channel, then you need to press the "Edit" and then enter the updated feed in the EPG URL and select the Submit button. After that, the feed will be updated in a while.
6. If you have multiple channels, you can follow the same steps above and add EPG through XML for all the channels.
Why there was NO EPG data on message displayed on the website and apps?
The EPG data will be updated based on the feed you upload on the platform and if the feed data is invalid or the schedule ended, then "No EPG data" will be displayed as shown below. You need to ensure the data you upload is valid and the EPG is available for the current and upcoming dates so that it will be updated.
